E.J. Rosen, MS, m.AmSAT, is a documentarian, design theorist, Alexander Technique teacher, and head of the home organizing firm Space Doctors NYC.
Her work deals with the reciprocal interface between body and the built environment, from the urban scale to the shoe.
She is interested in low-friction design, harm reduction, ubiquity blindness, and sustainable materials.
She holds a BA in Video & Performance from Bennington College, an m.AmSAT from Riverside Initiative for the Alexander Technique, and an MS in Architectural Theory from UC Berkeley’s College of Environmental Design, where she taught Social Factors in Architecture and commenced work on her first documentary, Sedentary. Her documentary debut, it premiered at the 57th annual Academia Film Olomouc, was listed in the Festival Top 10, and is streaming now on Euro indie doc site Da Films.
Her earlier career, 2011-2016, was focused on set and costume design, commercial art direction, and looping performance videos. She served as art director and production manager at 69 Worldwide from 2014-2016 before the brand’s retrospective at MOCA. She was also a founding member of the arts residency and education program 2727 California Street, directed by Lydia Glenn-Murray and Frank Trainer from 2017-2020 before it changed hands entirely to an unknown sect.
